Tax Tip #47: Keep Tax Records for at Least Seven Years

The IRS can audit returns up to 3 years back, or 6 years if they suspect underreported income by 25% or more. Keep all rental property tax records, receipts, and bank statements for at least 7 years. Keep depreciation records for 3 years after you sell the property.
